It’s Saturday and we have an exciting supplier reveal for you!
We can’t quite believe it but there are just ELEVEN days until Christmas. Here at Book Box Club HQ we are feeling seriously festive and full of good cheer (and mince pies!).
To spread the good mood, let’s start the weekend the right way: with a SUPPLIER REVEAL for our first box of 2020!
JANUARY SUPPLIER REVEAL
AMELIA’S KITCHEN CANDLES

We are thrilled to announce that our January DEADLY SECRETS box will feature a gorgeous, exclusive candle hand-poured by Amelia’s Kitchen Candles.
As you may know, here at Book Box Club we are bookish candle addicts! We love nothing more than settling down with a book whilst burning a candle inspired by our favourite fantasy worlds! And we know for a FACT that you guys are just as obssesed with candles as we are… Whenever we ask you what item you’d like to see more of in our boxes, candles are always right at the top of your list.
The glass jar candle that Amelia has designed goes so perfectly with our DEADLY SECRETS theme, it smells AMAZING, is gorgeously glittery and is inspired by our favourite female assassin (can guess you who!?).
We like to get to know the talented people who help to make our boxes so unique, so we quizzed Amelia about all things crafty in our Q&A.

Book Box Club Crafty Q&A
We know you love books – so tell us about your favourites!
My favourite books ever could not be more different from each other from content to tone despite a slight similarity in titles… The Secret History, which, if you haven’t read it!, is about a group of Classics students who take their interest in Bacchus a little bit too far in a North American college, and The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets which is about teenagers, stately homes, rock n roll and London in the 50s. If you loved Ninth House you’ll like The Secret History!
Which of your creations are you proudest of and why?
I don’t know if I have one creation I’m the most proud of, but I love mixing a scent that I’ve had in my head and burning the candle and it coming out exactly as I planned – or sometimes better. The We Hunt The Flame collection was definitely like that.
What does your arty area look like?
Organised chaos! So much stuff goes in to making candles that they’ve taken over the whole flat.
What do you eat whilst you craft and what do you listen to?
I have to eat something I don’t touch with my fingers because they’re usually covered in scent – during the last big order I did, I would eat chocolate buttons with a spoon in between batches! I listen to podcasts like Punch up the Jam and Why Won’t You Date Me with Nicole Byer, or I have something on in the background that I’ve seen a lot already like Brooklyn 99.
Have you ever had a crafting disaster?
I’ve knocked over a measuring jug full of scent! Nothing was spoiled but I did have to open all the windows in a hurry.
What inspires you to craft and how did you begin?
My candle making journey began a couple of years ago when I was short of money and decided that I would make candles for everyone for Christmas presents. Everyone was so impressed with them that I made a few book-themed ones and started my Etsy shop. When they started to sell – to people who weren’t my friends and family! – and especially when the first good reviews came back, I figured I would keep on going.
Apart from making beautiful things and reading what do you like doing?
Taking my dog, Waffle, out for long country walks on the weekend.
We can’t wait for you to see the gorgeous candle that Amelia has created exclusively for Book Box Club members.
Remember DEADLY SECRETS Book Box Club boxes and Purely Books Subscriptions are available NOW. This box will include TWO BOOKS and is perfect for fans of magical twists, kick-ass girls and all things gothic. You can find out more about our January theme over on our theme reveal page.
For now we bid you merry weekends full of books, joy and of course, mince pies!
Love, Libby & Kate
