Dear lovely members,
Amidst this global crisis we’ll start by sending lots of positive vibes to you and your loved ones.
It’s been a challenging week and small businesses everywhere have been struggling in the face of so much uncertainty.
Although this is an ever-changing situation, please be assured that we are doing everything we can to continue to bring some bookish joy into your lives. We are currently hopeful that your April Cursed Kingdom’s boxes will be posted to you safely and on schedule.
HOWEVER… due to the nature of the state of emergency, here in the UK and around the world, we have had to change our plans for some elements of our April box. Here’s what you need to know…
ONE FEATURED READ HAS CHANGED: Unfortunately, due to a change in publishing schedule prompted by the coronavirus pandemic, we are no longer able to feature one of our chosen books for April. The publication date for the book we described as “Book 1” has been shifted to later in the year, meaning that there is now no way that we can get our hands on copies to send to you.
Despite this disappointing news, we have secured a replacement: a BRILLIANT fantasy read that fits perfectly with our Cursed Kingdoms theme.
ABOUT THE REPLACEMENT BOOK: Our new featured read is a feminist retelling of the King Arthur myth and follows a young girl on a mission to rescue her stolen sister and find a mythical sword. Her journey will be full of adventure, joy and tragedy and what begins as a desperate quest to reclaim a sister soon becomes a magical mission! We are already huge fans of this author and we are so excited to be able to share this fantastic book with you.
THERE WILL NOT BE ANY BOOK-PLATES: After much discussion about logistics we are sadly unable to include signed book-plates alongside our two featured reads in our April box.
Whilst one of our authors had already signed and sent book-plates, these are now stranded in an office building in lockdown! And we can’t ask our other author to risk her safety to get bookplates signed and sent back to us. The UK government have ordered the public to stay at home and we need to respect this order for the safety of our team, our authors and the public in general. We hope you understand and support our decision on this.
BUT OTHERWISE ALL IS IN HAND! Aside for these two changes we are hoping to be able to send out your April boxes as planned.
Our packing team are a small dedicated team, who have ensured all necessary measures are in place for a safe working environment and space to pack your boxes and have been deemed an essential business (as they also distribute hand sanitiser!). On these grounds we feel confident that they will be able to stay open and if we do hear of any other updates that may effect your boxes we will update you straight away.
Thank you so much for all of your support throughout this difficult time. We know that these changes to your April boxes may come as a disappointment to some people and if you have any questions about this box (or anything else), please do not hesitate to get in contact with us by email (firstname.lastname@example.org).
In many ways we feel privileged that we are able to run our business remotely, that we are both healthy, and that our loved ones are safe. The fact that we should be able to spread a little bit of bookish joy with you too (in the form of our April boxes), is a HUGE bonus! Stay safe everyone.
Love, Libby and Kate x
